The traditional Muslim holiday – Idi Qurbon (Kurban Bayram – a feast of sacrifice) the inhabitants of Tajikistan will celebrate, like most other Muslim countries of the world, on September 1.
“The holiday and we will celebrate on September 1, as in other countries. Festive namaz in honor of Idi Qurbon will begin in mosques at 6:30 in the morning. Prayer will be conducted with enhanced security measures”, – The head of the Ulema Council of the Islamic Center of Tajikistan, Saidmukarram Abdukodirzoda, told “AP”.
Idi Qurbon traditionally begins with a festive prayer, which takes place in all the mosques in Tajikistan. After that, Muslims visit the graves of their relatives, go on a visit to relatives and friends.
Idi Qurbon is one of the two main Muslim festivals, which is celebrated on the 10th day of the month of Zulhidzh, or 2 months and 10 days after Idi Ramazon (Eid al-Fitr).
Idi Qurbon in Tajikistan has been officially celebrated since 1991, this day is a day off.
